After holding a groundbreaking event with local and state officials on Tuesday, May 26, Champaign Park District has officially begun construction at CUSR Center, located in Centennial Park. The first phase of construction will focus on building a circle drive at the entrance of the facility and is projected to be completed in August.
Due to the circle drive construction, the front entrance and lobby at CUSR Center are closed. CUSR participants and other patrons can access the facility through the west side of the building next to the Lindsey Tennis Center. The west entrance will be locked, but patrons can call for assistance at 217-819-3980 or ring the doorbell. All areas surrounded by fencing are part of the construction area. CU Special Recreation staff ask that patrons and participants do not enter the construction area for any reason for their own safety.
Parking for the CUSR Center is still available in the Sholem Aquatic Center lot south of Sangamon Drive.
